Lead Me to the Cross

We sat at a piano in the lobby of the hotel this morning where we are currently staying while awaiting surgery, and Jesse led us to the throne of grace in worship. He struggles to speak sometimes. He struggles to read, too. Last night, he read this blog unassisted for the first time since all of this began. We are talking about deep things and laughing at the silly things and weeping and sitting in silence. We are resting when rest will come and walking around in the sunshine enjoying the cool breeze when there is energy to move one foot in front of the other. We are marveling at the relentless way that Jesus has loved us all along, and breathing deeply His promises. God is so, so gracious and good.

“Savior I come, Quiet my soul remember

Redemption’s hill

Where Your blood was spilled, For my ransom

Everything I once held dear

I count it all as loss

Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out

Bring me to my knees

Lord I lay me down

Rid me of myself

I belong to You

Lead me, lead me to the cross

You were as I, Tempted and trialed

Human

The word became flesh, Bore my sin and death

Now you’re risen

Everything I once held dear

I count it all as loss

Lead me to the cross

Where Your love poured out

Bring me to my knees

Lord I lay me down

Rid me of myself

I belong to You

Lead me, lead me to the cross”

  5. Going through similar situation here. Nineteen months ago my dear husband of 50 years was diagnosed with cancer (in-operable). We have been in your shoes. Loving God and trusting Him with everything is an oddity to most people. However, our God is so faithful. Praying for His precious will to be realized by all who watch the beauty of His love as He continues to be lifted up, even in hard times like this! You are a blessing.

Eddie and I want you to know we are honored to walk through this very tough time with you and your family. Your message delivered by Brian today was very touching and we want you to know we are here to assist you in any way we can. You and your whole family are in our prayers around the clock as well as added to prayer chains with friends all the way to Wisconsin. Last year you challenged us to live on mission with this question…Ask God to show you how you can display the love of Jesus through your life. And when he shows you be faithful to follow through. This is what I see in you two right now. The Lord has put you in the Mission field called MD Anderson and you are sharing Jesus with others as you are leaning on Him and walking through this challenge. We love you guys and pray for miracles beyond anything we could ever imagine. You have taught us to pray big…our Lord is bigger than anything we encounter. Keep your eyes on Him and let His love continue to shine on everyone you cross paths with today and always. Love you …praying continually PS. 121

  8. We have been there at Rotary/MDA awaiting surgeries, recovering, waiting for results for hubby. We experienced God like never before in a very tangible way. We were able to minister to the hurting while we hurt ,and we were ministered to by the hurting. (Twenty three years ago we were across the way at Texas Childrens with our baby daughter and same could be said of the spiritual experience there, as well as miracles!)Thank you for sharing in a very real way the love of our Father. Now I am praying for a miraculous earthly healing for Jesse. You are at the very best medical center in the world with the best , most compassionate surgeons and staff. We serve a Mighty God!
