Oh My Soul

Jesse was awake for parts of his surgery. He actively participated in his own craniotomy, talking and answering questions, telling the gospel to all who were in there. We were told after the surgery, that even when Jesse’s speech would slow and words wouldn’t come in the middle of his procedure, he would sing. Not just any song, but the same song you can watch him lead a gathering of people in in our hotel lobby last Sunday in this video, the same song he burst into at the end of prayer the night before his surgery, and the same song he sang as we took a walk yesterday, one day after he had brain surgery. It’s the song his very soul pours out in worship to the Lord even when his mind is unclear.

“Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, Worship His holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

You’re rich in love and you’re slow to anger
Your name is great and your heart is kind
For all your goodness, I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Bless the Lord, Oh my soul
Oh my soul, worship his holy name
Sing like never before, Oh my soul
I’ll worship your holy name”

Jesse is doing well, resting and recovering as expected. Thank you for your continued prayers!

  2. How I praised and worshiped our Lord as Jesse sang and led in worship with that awesome song. Truly we do have an awesome God who loves us so much and cares about every part of our lives. Y’all have been an unbelievable inspiration to me and so many others as you are going thru the most difficult time of your lives. Bro Joe and I will continue to pray for complete healing and that our Lord and Savior will be glorified in it all!

  3. You do not know me but I am praying for you all. My family faced similar challenges four years ago and we lived in a 12 month fog wherein God carried us. Against the odds, my wife beat all the medical forecasts. It was the worst circumstance we ever encountered but it ushered in the greatest intimacy with Jesus we ever could have imagined. That intimacy continues to grow. I am believing God for an even greater breakthrough for you.

Jesse has been placed on SO many churches prayer list throughout this nation. By Gods Grace, Jesse WILL be restored to good health.

  6. Love this worship song… Love to see it’s truth come to life in hearts… In yours and hopefully so many others… Only in Christ is there joy in suffering, peace in the midst of trouble, strength when we are at our weakest… This is God’s gift to us. It is His reality… It is His very near Presence with you, Jesse… You cause us to give God glory! Keep on singing… Love you much…. Aunt Janet
